Negotiate your medical bill

Overview:

Even if you don’t qualify for some sort of financial assistance, you may have questions or concerns about your bill.  One day in the hospital can cost thousands of dollars.  Mistakes are common and it’s up to you to catch these billing errors.  However, we can help you to look for some of the potential errors that may lead to inflated balances.  Even if there are no billing errors, some companies will work on your behalf to settle your medical bill at a lower price.  While CareBudget does not provide mediation services for medical bills, we want to provide you with some high-level information to work with your provider directly to settle your medical bill or to hire an outside service to negotiate on your behalf.  Realistically, unless you have medical billing experience, you will probably want to hire someone to do this for you.  However, if you do find an error, you should contact the billing office at your provider and ask them for an explanation.  If you are willing to pay a fee for a service, you should explore potential service providers either through CareBudget or on your own. The remainder of this section focuses on auditing your medical bill for errors and on negotiating your medical bill.
